The Comparison Trap
The Comparison Trap
Ever scroll through Instagram and think, “They’re doing so much better than me…”?
Yeah, we’ve all been there.
It’s easy to forget that what you’re seeing is a highlight reel — not the whole rehearsal, not the tears, not the failed takes before that perfect one. The truth is, comparison is the fastest way to kill your own progress. It shifts your focus from your climb to their view from the top.
But everyone’s mountain is built differently. Different genetics, coaches, opportunities, and timelines. You can’t copy someone else’s peak — you can only climb yours.
Focus on the habits that move you forward: show up, train smart, rest when needed, and trust that slow progress still counts. Consistency beats comparison every single time.
🎯 Your challenge:
Spend this week celebrating your own progress. Post or journal one thing you’re proud of from training this month — big or small. Maybe you held that balance longer, improved your recovery, or just showed up on a day you didn’t want to.
P.S. Success in circus isn’t about being “ahead.” It’s about being the one who keeps showing up when 99% of others stop.
