You Were There. You Know What Happened.
You Were There. You Know What Happened.
Trust Your Own Read Before You Look for Anyone Else's
You just came off stage.
You know in your body whether that was your best or not.
You don't need someone to confirm it.
That internal read is one of the most valuable things you develop as a circus artist. And most people never fully trust it.
The performers who last the longest aren't the ones who get the most feedback. They're the ones who've built an honest relationship with their own standard. They can walk offstage, assess clearly, and move on with or without external input.
That's not arrogance. That's earned confidence.
Feedback still matters. A good coach or trusted partner will always add value. But their opinion is an addition to your own judgment, not a replacement for it.
You've put in the hours. You know this craft. Back yourself.
💡 Your challenge this week:
After your next show or run-through, write your own assessment before asking anyone else for theirs. Compare them. Start trusting where they line up.
P.S. I always needed validation from others. But after hundreds of performances, often without a coach or anyone I could rely on for honest notes, I had to trust my own judgment. That's when I realized I only had to prove it to myself, not anyone else.
